The Golden Gate Bridge is definitely one of San Francisco's most famous landmarks. The bridge itself is beautiful, we were very lucky that for the two days I was in town the weather was sunny and skies clear. Apparently this is a pretty rare occasion. We had a car rented for the time I was there in preparation for the trip down the coast, so we could easily get around the city and across the bridge and up into the hills.
It's easy to walk across the bridge and also to rent bikes to ride across it. We were lazy and drove, mainly so we could get all the way up to the vantage points in the cliffs overlooking the bay however I've heard cycling across is a really good way to see the bridge.
You can also take a drive all the way along the headlands to Point Bonita Lighthouse this has a view of San Francisco city in the background but you can also spot whales and sea lions off of the headland if you're lucky. I loved how easy it was to escape the city into countryside here.
Here are some of the images I took whilst on our little expedition to see the bridge from all angles!
