Bukhara, New Delhi

Bukhara, New Delhi

Emma Bates

The Bukhara restaurant is located in the ITC Maruya hotel in New Delhi. You can read about my experience at this hotel right here. The Bukhara has been there for so many years now and there's an obvious reason it's so successful. The food is unreal. It's renowned as the best tandoor restaurant in the world and the walls are adorned with Presidents, Prime Ministers and celebrities who have all dined here. Aptly I thought this was definitely somewhere that I was okay with having my birthday lunch.

My dad visited here 20 years ago when he was on a business trip in Delhi and has never forgotten it. I've grown up with two huge foodies as parents, perhaps why I adore food so much too. For my dad to remember a restaurant as that good all these years later, I knew we were going to be in for a treat.

He said I absolutely must order the tiger prawns, Dahl (which they're famous for) and the naan. What Emma and I weren't prepared for was the amount of food we were about to presented with, I started ordering the list my dad had given me and then the waiter stopped me and said "I'm going to bring you out a selection." "Oh, how kind" I thought to myself. The selection quite literally consisted of absolutely everything on the menu, which when there's two of you is more than a little overwhelming. But, challenge accepted and we tucked in. I wish I was hungrier because my god was it good.

If you're visiting Delhi you absolutely must make a trip to eat here, the food is sensational and the naan bread is the biggest I have ever seen in my life. Oh and the Dahl... I still dream about that Dahl.
